We're Not At The End But We've Already Won

Woohoo! So Paramore was in Melbourne on Wednesday and a bunch of us went to catch them live at Sidney Myer Bowl. The concert was awesome! So so glad that I went and kudos to Chris for getting us awesome seats. We were seated pretty close to the stage and had a good view.

Funny Story, after the concert that night, I accidentally deleted all the photos I took from my camera. That was until Isaac came to the rescue. With the use of a photo recovery program and a SD card reader, he managed to recover most of the photos that was deleted, including those from years back. Mann, what would I do without a tech wiz like him. So big big thanks to Isaac!

Paramore opens with Ignorance

I've always been a fan of Haley Williams Paramore, so watching them live was one of the coolest thing ever. It's quite amazing that they've been doing this for 6 years but they're still so young. Their drummer, Zac Farro is only 20! I'm gonna be as good as him starting now. Ok, maybe not now but soon enough!

The level of energy as they played each song was pretty high. Love how Haley was running all over the stage and doing her little dance. Jeremy was swinging the bass all over the place too. That made it hard to take good pictures but I'm cool with that. Haley was really good at getting the crowd pumped and she is hot! .....Go Haley!

Epic moment number one:
When Haley stormed onto the stage wearing an ironman mask and rocked the drums to Taio Cruz' Dynamite.

When Jeremy Davis side-flipped over Josh Farro, while they were both still playing. No pictures for this one but there's a clip of it on Youtube. Will put it up after my fast is over!

Where The Lines Overlap

What was great about the concert was that Paramore played all of their popular songs and yes, they sounded awesome live! Maybe even better than their albums. So excited to see how far their passion for music will take them. They're still so young and capable of accomplishing so much more. Rooting for you guys! Heheh after that concert, I feel like I'm already friends with them. Anyways....

The Only Exception

Can't wait for them to come back to Melbourne! Heheh I'm most probably definitely maybe gonna watch them live again. Let's keep supporting awesome bands like Paramore to keep their dreams alive!

A Show of Hands

A Show of Hands - Fundraiser for Pakistan

Sunday, 3rd Oct - A Show of Hands was held with the intention of raising funds for the flood victims in Pakistan through the power of music! Well, at least that was my take on it. Beside great music, it was a casual gathering filled with yummy finger-food, random Polaroid pictures and light-hearted chit-chat warped together with an awesome lounge ambience. In conclusion, a great way to spent a Sunday afternoon.

The 1st act of the day were the Charissa, Emma and Sarah trio.

And boy were they brilliant! Love their style, the vocals and their originals. The songs that they sang spoke about the floods, imagination and world events. Such a shame that we didn't get any recording of their performance. Looking forward to future gigs these girls might play at.

Up next, we have a duo from Pakistan known as Midnight Shift.

Midnight Shift(L-R): Afshan & Hasan

With some help from members of Project Clockwise, Afshan and Hasan performed an acoustic rendition of "Wonderwall" by The Oasis and pumped the crowd with "Zombie" by The Cranberries but with a special twist. They sang a couple of the verses in their native language.

Afshan was really good at entertaining the crowd and her vocals, absolutely smashing! Some even compared her vocals to the likes of Shakira. Even though they performed only two songs, it was a superb set.

During the intermission, we were graced by the presence of Phil Tan and Michelle Low on the piano.

The name "Project Clockwise" came from a vision a friend had about tightening a band musically. Like how drilling a screw clockwise tightens it, Project Clockwise was initiated with the purpose of coaching bands "how" to jam and play together as one. Bearing the will of clockwise we chose to carry on the legacy, tightening ourselves as a band, using our talents and rocking good looks to inspire and spread our love for music to anyone within an earshot. We are loud, we are energetic, we are....

Overall, A Show of Hands was a success. Huge props to Gavin, Kel, Si Hua and Charissa for pulling the event together and even getting World Vision involved. Thanks to Aun, Shing and Lena for photos of the day. Thanks to the arrow kids for setting up the hall and giving it that chilled lounge atmosphere. Also thanks to K for preparing the food.

A shout out to Project Clockwise. GREAT job guys! That was our first and may be our last performance but it was fun! May we continue to carry the spirit of Clockwise where ever we go.

We Are Once In A Lifetime

Waiting in the line as excited as I could be. The doors open. Finally. I've forsaken dinner for this moment. The only thing between me and a night of heart-pumping, bass-hitting, and alternative-rocking genius is a mean-looking bouncer.

As I approached the doors, the bouncer leaned forward. Towering over my feeble self. All this while, remaining silent. But when he spoke, he shattered all hopes of the promised night of heart-pumping, bass-hitting, and alternative-rocking genius.

"Where's you ID, mate?"

It's times like this I wonder why our student IDs doesn't show our birth dates. To cut a short story even shorter, I ran all the way back to my place (met Ian halfway who was running late for the concert), grabbed my passport and trammed back down to the bar.

And made it in time for the show.

Opening the show was local indie band, Dead Actors Club.

















The vocals/back-up vocals were good. The bassist was hot. The guitarist looks like a friend of mine from high school. The keyboardist had a nice hairband. The drummer hits too loud.

The band that would be performing next has been around since 1996. I remember the time when I would jam their songs together with my friends back home. Also whenever MTV plays their music, I would put the remote down and be awe by their musicality. Even now I remember the times me and my friends would try and attempt to imitate the sweet pipes of Jon Foreman, embarrassing ourselves. Good thing it's easier to imitate the sound of the guitars on "Meant to Live".

This band is none other than Switchfoot.

I totally loved the way Jon Foreman interacted with the audience. He's such a fun and loving dude. I also got to see Chad Butler play both an acoustic and electronic drum kit at the same time. That's probably one of the coolest thing ever. Besides Hello Hurricane, they performed songs from their older albums too. I had the honour of listening to the following live:

6. Dare you to Move

After the concert, my respect for Switchfoot increased by tenfold. It's amazing how they are able to remain so humble and passionate whilst being in an industry which strives on scandals and idolatry. Thank God for Switchfoot! May they continue spreading the love with their music.

Music is truly a very powerful medium. I feel inspired. As a musician, I want to be able to inspire others as well.

I'm Not In Love

After being homeless for 40 hours, I'm home.

Last weekend I spent 40 hours away for home. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I guess having an emergency shelter and a friend for company make things much easier. It was cold and tiring. Nevertheless, an interesting experience. One I wouldn't mind doing again. Next time on the streets. Maybe.

Anberlin's presence on stage were pretty good. They were energetic, swinging their guitars around and moving much quicker than my camera's shutter speed. Didn't managed to get any better shots but that's ok.






















One thing I noticed about all three bands was that all their drummers were smashing the drums like nobody's business. Power mann but not good for the ears.

The highlight of the night was probably when The Academy Is performed "About A Girl" cause that was the only song I was familiar with. It was good that they did cause I was just about to doze off. I found their other songs boring. Anberlin's music was new to me but I enjoyed it and overall, it was a good concert.

And the award for "Best Picture of the Night" goes to

"Take It *BEEP*ing Easy"

What started out as a decision made at the spurt of the moment became a wonderful memory.

Two nights ago, a bunch of friends and I when to watch Jason Mraz Live at Festival Hall.

Joining him were special guests Lisa Mitchell and Eric Hutchinson.


At the age of 19 (same age as me!), Lisa Mitchell put on a solid performance. Cute how some of her songs were about animals. A great way to start the night.

Next up was Eric Hutchinson.


Eric Hutchinson is one of those artists that you oughta know! He's simply brilliant, both as a musician and performer. Check out his song "Oh!" in my playlist (right at the bottom of the page).


Finally, the moment everyone's been waiting for.

This man needs no introduction.

He's a man with much charisma, good looks and a killer vocal.

He's the one and only

oh yea and accompanying CHICHI was funny man, straw-hat Jason Mraz.

Other highlights of the show includes the Big Band Segment and the Introductory to Jason Mraz's band members. It was all good fun and good music.

Other aspects that I loved were the lighting and volume of the concert. The lighting was simple and sweet. Also the volume wasn't dreadfully loud but just nice.
